On Sunday, August 14th the Yelp Buffalo community is teaming up once again with the International Institute to present their 3rd Yelp Without Borders fundraising event. The event’s goal is to raise funds for the International Institute, and all donations up to a total of $1000 will be matched by Yelp.com to help drive this goal!
The International Institute, founded in 1918, seeks to strengthen Western New York by assisting refugees/immigrants to become independent, informed, and contributing members of their communities, and also promote cultural competence, multiculturalism, and global connectedness throughout the region. As they near their 100th Anniversary, the International Institute has been a staple non-profit in Buffalo, and a cornerstone contributor to the growth of the international communities that are now a part of the rich cultural diversity in Buffalo.
The Yelp Buffalo Community has grown exponentially over the last four years. They have become known for their generous outreach to the business and international communities of Buffalo by helping all businesses and organizations they work with to reach a wider demographic, and find new opportunities to connect with the people they serve. Yelp Without Borders promises to be another shining example of how one community can connect with many others. Included in this event will be an local All-Star lineup of international culture, and cuisine. The event will feature various delicious foods: The Big Easy will be serving New Orleans Style Cajun cuisine, Abyssinia from the West Side Bazaar will be preparing their Ethiopian specialties, Teton Kitchen will be serving fresh sushi creations (discover why Teton was #1 on Yelp’s Top 100 of Buffalo in 2015), Sun Cuisines will be providing their famous Black Rice Sun Rolls, Michelle’s Caribbean will be on hand with specialties from Trinidad, and Rancho’s Latin Food will be sampling their Venezuelan Arepas.
Providing refreshments for the evening will be Community Beer Works, and Ashker’s Juice Bar, who both have generously participated in previous Yelp Without Border events, and MidGuard Winery sampling their honey wine creations. The night will be energized by DJ Alykhan providing music all night. And if that isn’t enough for one evening, Splash on Canvas Art will be on hand providing opportunities to give painting a try.
Yelp Community Manager for Buffalo, Alexander Levine, said of the event, “I would love for people to come out and experience the beautiful space that the International Institute operates out of, while trying some new international cuisines, and learning how they can help support Buffalo’s growing refugee population! Mostly, we want people to have fun, try something new, and learn more about the International Institute.”
The event is free to attend, and all food, and drink vendors are generously donating their time, and resources to help this vital organization, however donations to support the International Institute will be accepted, and greatly appreciated.
Attendees wishing to join in on this amazing opportunity are required to RSVP on Yelp.com at http://bit.ly/yelpborders. All attendees must RSVP, and receive their confirmations to attend. The event will run from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
